30th of November - Today is Mika Salo’s birthday and this shot shows the Finn blasting about the streets of Monte Carlo ten years ago. What was so special that Sunday making it worth remembering Mika’s drive in the Tyrrell 025-Ford at the 1997 Monaco GP?

29th of November - A tragic crash of Graham Hill’s private aeroplane takes the lifes of the twice World Drivers’ Champion, his young driver Tony Brise, designer Andy Smallman and three other members of the Embassy-Hill F1 team back in 1975. The GH1 pictured wasn’t a particularly good car, scoring only three points that year. But boy, was that airscoop a marketing director’s dream or what?

Sabe-se lá porque, mas parece existir uma tendência preocupante mundo afora de acreditar que contratos não valem nada. Eu é que não queria trabalhar para nenhum destes meios de comunicação, que parecem sugerir este tipo de comportamento corporativo como normal. E sorte daqueles pilotos que estão lidando com gente como Didi Mateschitz.

27th of November – At the 12th anniversary of Giancarlo Baghetti’s passing it is impossible not to reminisce about the 1961 French Grand Prix. Entered in a privately owned Ferrari, the Italian fought his way through the field from 12th on the grid and with eight laps to go he began to challenge race leader Dan Gurney. After seven lead changes Baghetti dived out of Gurney’s slipstream with two hundred yards to go and won by 1/100 of a second. Not only was it an exciting finish, it was also an accomplishment that made F1 history, a record that stands till the present day. Do you know what I’m talking about?

Durante o fim de semana começou a circular uma notícia de que o chefe de equipe da Toro Rosso, Franz Tost, teria revelado que Alonso assinou com a Red Bull e que David Coulthard teria que ceder o lugar. Outra peça de jornalismo lamentável.

25th of November – Despite the illness that had befallen Rally World Champion Richard Burns, motor sport fans all over the World were saddened to hear, two years to the date, of Richard’s passing. In the year when we mourn the loss of Colin McRae, Britain’s tragedy to lose two of their greatest rally heroes within two years is hard to accept.

Conversando com o Paulo Brein sábado de manhã, percebo que até agora só raspei a superfície do assunto que vem ocupando o espaço nos últimos dias. Considerando as informações que obtive, fica muito difícil de acreditar que Felipe Massa não sabia o que está acontecendo nos bastidores do Desafio das Estrelas.
