Having dominated the opening two practice sessions, Simon Pagenaud grabbed pole position for de Ferran Motorsports at the American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix to be staged at the scenic circuit situated near Lakeville in Northwest Connecticut. Pagenaud shares the Acura ARX-02a prototype with team owner Gil de Ferran and the on-form duo are seeking their third win on the bounce having triumphed in both previous ALMS rounds staged on the streets of Long Beach and at Salt Lake City.
Jules Bianchi took his first pole position of the season in qualifying for Round 7 of the Formula 3 Euro Serie at Zandvoort ahead of Christian Vietoris, Jean Karl Vernay and Rookie Valtteri Bottas.
At Brands Hatch Philipp Eng has taken his maiden Formula Two pole position for Round 4.
Oliver Jarvis manages a suprising pole position for the 4th round of the German DTM series at Zandvoort with his 2008 Audi A4.
Valentino Rossi scores pole position for the German GP at a very rainy Sachsenring, demoting team-mate Jorge Lorenzo and Casey Stoner to their respective spots on the grid.
Simona De Silvestro takes pole position in a rainy Formula Atlantic qualifying session at Lime Rock at 59.624 sec. Borja Garcia qualified second at 59.916, followed by Frederic Vervisch at 1:00.037, Markus Niemela at 1:00.282 and John Edwards at 1:00.348.
Alain Menu and Robert Huff stole the show in WTCC qualifying at Brands Hatch. Menu, who last took pole in Macau 2008 secured Chevrolet’s second pole position of the season after Huff’s in Marrakech. Andy Priaulx held provisional pole until the late Chevrolet surge and will line up third on the grid.
Kasper Andersen came away victorious for the Danish “rookie” FC Midtjylland club by narrowly defeating the Glasgow Rangers machine of Australian John Martin in the Qualifying Final for the third round of the 2009 Superleague Formula at Zolder
