Shoya Tomizawa 1990 – 2010

Shoya Tomizawa, winner of the first race of the newly inaugurated World championship class Moto2 at Losail in Qatar early this year, has passed away earlier today after falling off his bike during the Moto2 round at Misano, the riders following him during the race, Alex de Angelis and Scott Redding, had no chance to avoid their colleague. I’m deeply saddened, just one week after a similar tragedy at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, when young Peter Lenz lost life in a similar accident. My heart goes out to the Tomizawa family and Shoya’s many friends. Of course, P1Mag will dedicate issue no.13 to the late Japanese rider.
