#Indy 500 – Wheldon wins dramatic 100th Indy 500

In a downright thriller over fuel conservation Belgian Bertrand Baguette lead the race till three laps from the flag and was forced to stop. When Dario Franchitti had to slow down to spare fuel it was the big opportunity for rookie J.R. Hildebrand to take the win -. but the Indy Lights champion crashed in the very last turn, handing the win to Briton Dan Wheldon.
