about this blog

On 15th of July I created a blog in Portuguese language. Being Brazilian by birth, the idea was to introduce my works to the Brazilian audience. That’s because from my debut in motor racing in 1980 (see my profile) all of my activities in motor racing and my professional career took place in Europe.

Especially as far as my journalistic work during the last three decades is concerned, I remained a bit of an unknown quantity at my birthplace. So, when returning to Brazil for a stint there, this interactive diary should not only help to present the quality of my reports and features to a wider audience, but also safeguard some of the precious memories that have amounted throughout almost four decades of involvement in motor racing.

Grand Prix Insider

It’s fair to say it’s been a success from the outset. The Brazilian version hit the mark of 100.000 clicks in only five month! And I hope for a similar acceptance of the English version. Oh, why I named the blog Grand Prix Insider? That’s the title of a series of Formula One Yearbook I’ve written back in 1993 and 1995, all of them published in Germany.

So I’ll stick to this title, despite rarely showing up in F1 paddocks around the World myself these days. I still remain attached to the scene and got my prime contacts going nonetheless. So why not share the information I still get from these channels, express my views on what’s really happening behind the scenes with you guys, who are as much in love with Formula One and motor racing in general?

Mario Bauer & Kimi Räikkönen, São Paulo, 21/10/07

This blog in its English version is going to be a constant mix of analyzing what’s behind the news (if anything at all…), a great deal of reminiscing, as well as my personal recollection of days gone past in the international motor racing scene, be it as race driver, journalist, TV-commentator and producer, driver’s manager and a series of further occupations I had the opportunity to prove myself in international motor racing.

I hope you’ll enjoy my little corner

I found your site via Tam’s old race car site. Reading your texts awaken so many memories. Motor racing has been my passion for over 5 decades. I have seen great driver such as Bonnier, Ireland, Surtees, Fittipaldi, Clark, Rindt (and many, many more) come and go. I have been to Interlagos, LeMans, Nuerburgring, Watkins Glenn, Monaco, Lime Rock, Laguna Seca, SIR, Isle Notre Dame and countless other circuits. The excitement never goes away.
Your site is a credit to our sport.

Glad you you liked it, Dieter. It’s not as 100% as it should be as I’m expieriencing serious problems with the internet provider and can’t work from my own computer. But I promise further improvements… and a German version, too…

Hi, great “little corner” and what a impressive experience ! Being at the beginning of my way as a journalist I want to voice my approval…I’ve started with my blog few days ago, i’m form Poland - it’s a great time for all F1 manniacs in my country, after Robert Kubica great performances, but we still suffer from lack of good and interesting sources of information - Your blog seems to be an exception and big help, best regards, Piotrek Gawliński (www.f1lane.wordpress.com)
