Mercedes GP is the fifth team to unveil their 2011 contender, showing off the MGP W02 Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg will drive in the team’s second F1 season.

Merc stuck to their traditional nomenclature as MGP abreviates the team name Mercedes GP Petronas, W stands since the days of silver arrows in the 1950s for “Wettbewerbsfahrzeug”, or competition vehicle, and 02 represents the number of Merc’s new generation F1 designs. The MGP W02 features a modern version of the KERS introduced in F1 in 2009 and that took Lewis Hamilton’s McLaren to the first GP win of a KERS-powered car in F1 history. More on the MGP W02 as well as all the other 2011 F1 cars introduced so far in P1Mag’s first issue of the year, out on the 3rd February.
