Only six days after winning the German Grand Prix Lewis Hamilton seemed on the way to pole position with a fastest lap time of 1:19.978 in qualifying at the Hungaroring. But reigning champion Sebastian Vettel snatched pole position away from the Brit in the final seconds of the session by a couple of hundreds of a second..

Hamilton therefore will line up alongside Sebastian Vettel on the front row for Sunday’s race. Jenson Button and Felipe Massa will share the second row while Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber slipped down to row three ahead of Nico Rosberg and Adrian Sutil.
