Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden finished in first and second places for the Honda Racing Team in the first of today’s three Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship races at the Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire. In a reverse of earlier, Shedden led home Neal in the second race.

Neal still had a six-point championship lead over Shedden going into the final race of the season, which he finished in eighth – two places ahead of Shedden, the only driver who could have beaten him to the title. It means Neal his lifted the BTCC crown for the third time in his career.

James Nash in his 888 Racing with Collins Contractors Vauxhall Vectra had already secured the Independents’ Trophy in finishing third in the first race of the weekend.
