In his usual dominant way Sebastian Vettel never let anyone even come close to challenge him for the race win in the first ever Indian Formula One Grand Prix in history, scoring a hattrick of pole position, fastest lap and victory. Jenson Button finished second from Fernando Alonso, while Mark Webber dropped from second on the grid to a disappointing fourth. Jaime Alguersuari, Adrian Sutil and Sergio Perez completed the top ten.
