Lacking any opposition with the same kind of budget and resources, one can’t be surprised that Audi took a 1-2 in Sebring 12 hours race – despite having entered three R18.
Tough hit for Muscle Milk Pickett Racing after Klaus Graf, Lucas Luhr and Simon Pagenaud were on the way to a podium finish when a refuelling issue held the team’s HPD ARX-03a up in the pits for several laps, handing P3 behind the Audis of Tom Kristensen/Allan McNish/Dindo Capello and Timo Bernhard/Romain Dumas/Loic Duval to LMP2 winners, Stephane Sarrazin/Ryan Dalziel/Enzo Potolicchio in Starworks Motorsports’ HPD ARX-03b.
The really interesting battle happened – as always – in the GT class with Ferraris, Corvettes and BMWs partially leading the race. Olivier Beretta tried to secure the win for Af Corse Ferrari by hitting the leading BMW M3 GT2 in the final lap and squeezing through. But race control put the RLL BMW of Hand/Summerton/Mueller back into the lead as the GT class winners ahead of the best Corvette of Magnussen/Garcia/Taylor.
