4/08/1928, Christian Goethals is born in Heule, Belgium;
Christian Goethals was a regular in the Belgian sports car scene in the early 1950s, driving mainly Porsches. His biggest success had been a 2nd place in the 1500cc class of the 1956 sports car race in Reims, when he decided to rent a private a Formula 2 Cooper T43-Climax to take part in the 1958 German Grand Prix but failed to finish due to a broken fuel pump. Chrsitian realized he felt safer in sports cars and topped his international success with a 5th place in the overall result of the 1960 Buenos Aires 1000km race. But a serious accident during the Grand Prix of Angola made him decide to retire from racing.
